Brief:

A Big 4 Management consulting firm was looking for a Senior Partner to Lead their Digital Banking Practice across APAC. With monetary authorities in HK, Singapore and other SEA countries issuing new digital banking licenses and  the overall rate of digital adoption within financial institutions continuing to grow, demand for consulting services in this space was robust.

Our client also recognised that in comparison to some of their competitors they lacked full end to end capability and required a regional leader with a deep understanding of the CIO agenda across digital strategy, IT transformation, enterprise architecture, cloud adoption and Customer Experience. Importantly this person needed to be well connected and capable of building and leading a team of Subject Matter experts.

Approach:

Selecture conducted a detailed regional search of experts within Digital & Technology Transformation in Financial Services - both within consulting and industry.

We focused on Candidates who could  operate effectively at the intersection of Business and Technology and create digital strategies that support their clients overall business aspirations. The role  required somebody with depth and market connectivity in Financial Services, particularly retail & corporate banking across South East Asia. It was important that this person led form the front and was very market facing. In terms of cultural fit our client wanted somebody who was collaborative and purpose driven with a strong emphasis on creating a diverse team.

Results:

The finalist candidate was a Senior Partner in a competitor firm who was leading a team of 50.

Technology strategy professionals. Prior to consulting, this candidate had worked as a CTO for a global Technology company and earlier in his career with a Tier 1 strategy firm. Much of their consulting career was focused on helping CIOS within Banks across areas of IT strategy, digital strategy, IT transformation, enterprise architecture and multi-speed operating models.

What really stood out was their career trajectory and market presence with CIOs throughout the industry. Previous experience building  a high performing team & diverse from scratch was also paramount. Our team was able to secure the candidate and help our client with their formal onboarding.
